PC still better than Mac

So i finally got it reloaded with OS X Leopard. Unimpressed.

Will continue to break/fix it and learn from it.

PC > Mac

I still stand by it. I am a PC and always will be.

I have two G5 Macs on OS X (10.4.8). I've tried reloading both of them this morning and i get continuous "Panic" errors. So much for their ease of use reputation.

Hate being sick

I think my body is slowly shutting down. I've had this cough since last weekend that won't go away. I also had a hard time keeping up with the other guys playing basketball on Thursday, not to mention i fell on my right arm and it's been bothering me since. I also haven't been getting enough sleep lately. Friday i went to bed at 3am and woke up Saturday morning at 7am for an 8am dentist appointment. Yesterday i woke up at 10:30am after falling asleep around 3am, so it still wasn't enough sleep. I felt a bit tired around 7pm and laid down on the bed and fell asleep. At some point I woke up in a sweat. Didn't think i had a fever but i guess that's when it broke. Sara woke me up at 10pm to shower, which i did, and promptly went back to bed. I think i slept a collective 11 hours last night. I feel better today, but i still can't shake this cough. It sounds worse than it really is, but i'm getting a headache from the frequency of it.

I need to start sleeping earlier.

Weekends

Friday - Extra tired from dealing with an ongoing issue at work. Damn software developers from other companies are a pain. After work, i picked up Sara and went to order a Manuel's Special Marquez's party burrito from Marquez's El Tepeyac for dinner with Sunny and family. After eating, Sunny and i played some SF4, then Sunny and Sara played Jeopardy on the PS3, and then tried to watch X-Men, but Sunny's X-HDD was not cooperating, so instead we started watching the House Bunny until the rest of the gang called and asked to meet up at the new Yogurtland in Alhambra.

Saturday - Woke up at an ungodly hour for a Saturday (6am) so i could beat the rush at Firestone to get an alignment done on my Prelude. I was the first one there before they actually opened and managed to edged out an old lady by a minute. In and out in an hour (Yay!). Sara was already gone for her teacher conference, so i kinda lazed around the house with the dog, tidied up the house a bit, did a load of laundry (GASP!), and played SF4 with Aaron over PSN until about 12pm and decided to meet up with David and his new roommate Matthew (who's here from France doing workstudy) at Life Plaza for some late afternoon dim-sum. Played some more SF4 while Sara took a quick nap after she came home and waited for Pooks and Kim to show up to go to Bacaro LA Wine Bar for their 1st Anniversary Party. $15 door entry and all you can eat/drink passed Hors d'oeuvres, wine, and beer. Selection was skimpy with the hor d'oeuvers being mostly cheese panini's and a flatbread with some type of bean spread and the drinks being white, red, and sparkling wine and only one beer on tap. I'm not a wine drinker at all (unless it's a dessert wine) and i'm a fairly picky beer drinker, but they served Spaten which was pretty good. Good enough for me to go and try to find it and have one with a steak. We got there early to beat the huge crowd that soon gathered. We left early due to the crowd and tried to go to King Torta for something more substantial, but when we got there we found a sign saying, "No more Tortas today". WTF mate. 2nd time there and failed a 2nd time. I think i'm not meant to try their food. Instead we headed over to the new Daikokuya on Atlantic, but the wait looked to be about an hour. Ditched that idea and headed across the street to Mandarin Noodle House (on Kim's recommendation) and the food turned out awesome. Will definitely head back there. After stuffing ourselves, we drove over to Sunny's place for a round each of Cranium, Celebrity, and Scattergories with equal amounts of trash-talking.

Sunday - Slept in until about 11:30 and ended up watching the entire Lakers vs. Jazz game, which is a first for me. Sara started watching Mama Mia afterwards and since i hate musicals, i wandered into the bedroom and started playing Pokemon Ranger on my DS until i got winky-eyed and fell asleep for about an hour until Sara woke me up to run some errands and do some grocery shopping. Neither of us felt like cooking, so we opted to try the Mini Sirloin burgers and the Swiss and Grilled Onion Sirloin burger, which turned out to be pretty good. Ended the night with helping Sara with her paper crafts.

I think i might start toting my camera around to take random pictures. I'm starting to realize pictures are more fun than writing long-winded posts of what i did. Let's see how long this will last.

Street Fighter Pwnage

*WARNING* - Nerd speak ahead. Only those who actually play will understand.

Been practicing, but still can't pull off some of the harder combos because it's hard getting the Focus Attack Dash cancel off with the PS3 DS controller.

Been doing fairly well with Cammy and has been my go-to character. Haven't even really used any of the other characters unless i'm just messing around with friends over PSN.

Been contemplating buying from www.arcadeinabox.com.

Sticks look nice and you can upgrade to Sanwa parts. Base price is at $155 which is comparable to the Madcatz SF:IV Tournament Edition Fightstick, but good luck to anyone who can find one without getting raped by price markup on Craigslist, EBay, Amazon, etc. as they're sold out with no hint of a re-release. Only difference is that the TE stick is pre-built with Sanwa parts whereas the AIAB store requires upgrades making the stick i want $190 (Sanwa buttons and JLF Octo Gate).

I dunno if this is worth buying considering SF isn't something i'm super addicted to. I usually don't play unless i'm playing someone i actually know vs. some random person on PSN. However i do believe that fighting games are meant to be played in this manner instead of a handheld controller and now that i'm starting to understand the game, it's one of the most fun Street Fighter games since i started playing the original Street Fighter II back in middle school where all i could manage to do was Blanka's electricity :o

Just wow.

One of my users sends me an email full of picture attachments and says she can't open them. They open fine on my computer, so i walk over to her office and ask her to show me what she's doing. Even before she starts explaining, i notice her 2nd monitor on her dual-screen setup is off. I reach over to power it on.

Ta-da.

Weekend haps

Friday- Bad day for Sara with getting a flat tire and then getting very sick after work. Came home around 6pm and found her sleeping it off. Ended up staying in playing PS3 and then running over to "Silver and Gold Amazing" which is a new Cantonese style restaurant i found on the LATimes food blog. I ordered a Wonton soup for Sara and a Beef Chow Fun for myself. Nothing to rave over, but was fairly cheap. Might have to give it another try.

Saturday- Woke up late and then ran Sara's car over to Costco to get her a new tire. Left the car there since they estimated it'd be done in 4 hours. Met up with Kim to hand her an H&R Block coupon Sara's parents had and then ran down to HB to get my taxes done. Woot! for not owing =) Met up with Pooks, Kim, and Sunny + Fam, to eat some Thai food in T-town and then headed over to Griffith Observatory to look around. For some odd reason, the Observatory was PACKED with people. Apparently it was a good night to see Saturn. After we finished up, we headed over to House of Pies to pick up a fresh Strawberry pie and headed back to the house for pie and ice cream, followed by a few rounds of "Celebrity", which is kind of like Taboo where you write names of famous people or characters, and then you give clues to have your team guess the names you draw from the bowl. Super fun!

Sunday- Woke up late (again) and decided to attend Sunday mass at St. Thomas Aquinas Church since St. Benedict's 12:30 Mass is done in Spanish. Picked up In-N-Out for lunch and then ran some errands at Target and Michael's. Pretty much vegged the rest of the day away.
