Boredom

My company celebrates birthdays and employee of the month usually on the last day of the month with treats to get people to come to the event. I usually grab and go back to my desk =P

This month is ice cream and being lactose intolerant, i grabbed two Popsicle sticks. I also found a joke on each of the sticks:

What does a car wear when it's cold?
-A Car-digan

What is a wheel's favorite song?
-Merrily we roll along

I wanna go home already.

Stuff

So in the past few weeks, quite a bit has happened and it didn't even occur to me to write about it here. Facebook seems easier to keep up with what's going on. With that said, time to update my 2-3 readers :)

I'm beginning to increase my time with my old group from HS, with the addition of SO's. We've done dinner out a couple times, but we've started doing potluck and game night on Friday nights. It's been fairly successful with the guys up 3-0 in guys vs girls Taboo (Sorry Sara :P ). I've also started playing basketball on Thursday nights with Sunny and Pooky at MHS. I haven't played basketball since the New Century Mortgage ship started sinking in 07. It's nice to get back out on the court and get my heart pumping again, because it was REALLY hard to get it going the first night out. Today will be the third time out and it's pretty much what i look forward to every week. While i'm not anywhere near "good" at the sport, i do love playing it and it makes me feel good.

With the start of Thursday night basketball, i'm also trying to get my butt back into some sort of shape. Sara's been saying i've been gaining weight and i am sad to say that it's true. I don't drink much soda, but if i do drink i'll usually pick diet. My new found love of Coke Zero helps with this transition. Sprite Zero is disgusting and Diet Sunkist is actually decent. Diet Dr. Pepper is next on my list. I haven't exactly started exercising, but Sara suggested i join her on the 30-day shred program... which she's on day 2 since starting earlier this year =X. To her defense, she did stop because she got really sick. It's obvious we need more motivation. We love food.

Speaking of food, i tried my hand at Chinese Chicken Salad last night. I cheated Sandra Lee style, but did chop all the vegetables myself. I used 1 head of iceberg, a medium carrot (julienne), cilantro, green onion, toasted almond slices, roasted peanuts, roasted chicken from Costco (white meat - shredded), and a pouch of ready-made salad dressing from Lee Kum Kee. I forgot to buy wonton skins to fry, but will definitely remember that next time. It turned out ok, but i think i'm going to chop the iceberg into smaller pieces next time and i really need to find a homemade recipe for the dressing. My mom has one, but she says her ingredient list is super long. Also need to grill my own chicken. Sara mentioned Wednesdays could become salad night. I think i need to go find a recipe for CPK's BBQ Chicken chopped. LOVE that salad. I don't think i've ordered a pizza at CPK in the last 10 times i've been.

Also been trying to put a decent amount of time into my video games. If you didn't know it already, i LOVE LOVE LOVE video games. The only next-gen system i do not own is an XBox360. I have everything else. My DS is collecting dust, Wii only comes out of hibernation to play Guitar Hero, my gaming PC doesn't really get turned on, and the PS3 is on at least once every 1-2 days for GTAIV or SFIV.

I think that's all i got for now. Until next time i feel like writing.

Home buying woes

I knew home buying would be tough, but no one told me it would be physically, mentally, and emotionally draining. I find myself arguing with Sara more often than not and i think it's mainly because i can't figure out what i want for myself just yet. I really feel my ideal home is within reach, but i just have to keep looking for that one needle in the haystack that is today's home market full of short sales and foreclosures. Only problem is, i don't have quite enough finances to look deeper into that "haystack".

I'm slowly realizing that being able to overlook certain aspects of a particular home is very challenging. Paint, tile, and carpet can be replaced, but some physical aspects like location, the property itself, and sometimes even the structure itself cannot be altered. And lastly, that feeling of being at home needs to be there. I know some people can learn to like or even love a home, because love at first sight doesn't always happen. But what if that love never comes? And that's a huge risk to take when you're making such a huge investment. It's like asking if you would marry someone you weren't sure about? Too bad home-buying isn't like dating. =P I can't overlook not having a certain feeling. Even as an investment property, i still have to walk in that front door every day until i sell or choose to rent.

Just like in relationships/marriage, home buying with your significant other is a give and take experience. You can't always have your way, but you can be damn sure that you are entitled to your own two cents and be able to compromise when agreement seems to be within reach.

But if it's not, expect to fight for what you believe. =(

Weekend doings

Just to mention Thursday
Unlocked all characters in SF4. For those of you that play, Seth is still a fking cheater when you're using Seth yourself. Starting on unlocking the colors now. GTA:IV has not been getting much attention.

Friday
Disneyland after work with Jason, Sara, and Claudia + Boyfriend Ben. Had dinner at Paradise Pier's PCH Grill. Crappy service and okay food. Still like Storyteller's cafe better. Went on Splash Mountain (sans Sara) for the first time in God knows how long. Got soaked. Realized why i haven't gotten on since the last time =P I had enough water in my right sock/shoe to wring out a nice puddle of water. Also hopped on the Winnie the Pooh ride, Haunted Mansion, and Pirates of the Caribbean.

Saturday
Woke up pretty late, which was WONDERFUL but bad considering i had a few errands to run before going to Dena's wedding. I wanted to get my haircut, but that wasn't going to happen after going to the bank, target, Charter, and a quick stop for lunch.

Wedding was at USC at 3:30pm. Ceremony didn't start until 3:45pm and only lasted until 4pm. Walked over to the reception hall, which was at the Town & Gown. Not a bad venue, but found out from Sara that the price tag on having it here is EXPENSIVE. Capped the night at 9:30pm.

Sunday
Not much this day. Woke up early for some house hunting. Also finally got my haircut. Grocery shopping and walking of the dog.
