I hate computers
Yes i know, i work on computers for a living. Yes i know i've said i love my job. Yes i know, BLAH-BLAH-BLAH-BLAH-BLAH. I just spent the last three hours trying to figure out why my sister's laptop would not connect to the Internet, freaking out about losing all the data in my external 250GB drive, and why my laptop was taking forever and a day to shut down.
ARGH.
I got it all figured out, but dayum... I was seriously going to explode in a violent rampage that could make the Devil himself run from me (yes, i was THAT pissed). I just bought a 250GB Western Digital hard drive (Circuit City: $99 after rebate) to back up my current 250GB with all my music, movies, and files in case it ever decides to take a poop on me. So while in the process of backing everything up, Windows decides to spit out a delayed write-failed error. Ok, no problem. I'll just reboot. So the reboot hangs and the laptop freezes. Great. I'll force the shutdown. I turn off my drives. I turn the laptop back on. I turn the drives back on.
Drive is not initialized. New hardware found.
FVCK.
I think i just lost everything.
Luckily everything was fine when i rebooted once more. But then a whole slew of problems came up. I eventually fixed everything, but damn. What else could go wrong? At least from that point on, everything was ironing itself out. I figured out that the reason why my computers would not get connectivity was because the IP addresses being assigned to the computer fell outside my specified range on my DHCP settings. Basically i had to reboot my router and DSL modem. Why it keeps going out of range? I dunno.
*Sigh* Crisis avoided, but i still have to figure out a way to back up my files reliably and safely.
Thanks to my babie for putting up with me freaking out. I'm sorry if i scared you. I love you =)
Damn you Bill. Use your multi-billion dollar company to make some quality sh!t for once.

It's getting hard...
My sister is back in the hospital. I was supposed to be paintballing up in Conquest Paintball park with Derek and a few other friends, but i had to cancel because of all these things that are happening. First my sister is back in the hospital, my parents get a pretty bad flat tire, i find out this morning that my sister has an overdue T-mobile bill and an overdue Macy's bill. I've needed to go to the bank for the past 2 months because my checking account is almost at zero. I've just got too much stuff to do.
My weekends are seriously turning into errand days, resulting into time i barely have for any leisure. I've got tons of video games and DVD's i haven't even opened!
Derek - I'm really sorry for cancelling on you. I really wanted to go, but i just can't. My parents are glad that i had chosen to stay home instead of going out to paintball. Now they have another person to count on for things they just don't have time to do. It's also not fair to any of my family that i'm out having fun while they're running around trying to get things done and taking care of my sister at the same time. I'll make it up to you somehow, Derek.
Sar, Jason, HoHo - You guys have been (and continue to be) great. Thanks so much for bending over backwards to help out me and my family. I know you don't have to and i sincerely appreciate everything you guys have done thus far: from buying us food when we can't to just trying to cheer my sister up with a simple phone call.
And again, for those of you who have also expressed concern: Thank you, guys and girls. It's nice to be reminded we have friends that care.

I think i fit somewhere in the middle. Although i know some people who are blatantly one of the "extremes" (I'm not saying which one, but she knows i'm talking about her: See 4/11/05 post).
I think i use the term pretty loosely. I call everyone a "FOB", regardless of how they act. But then there are times when i do use it in that disciminatory tongue. I guess i'm just as guilty.
I dunno if i can take a real stance on this topic, only because i can stand on either side of the fence. I'm both a FOB and ABC (American Born Chinese). I embrace my Chinese culture, but i also identify with being an American. Oh well.
They also forgot to mention that there is the flip of the coin to the term "Twinkie" (or "Banana" - Thanks Bubble Boy. I have this white-boy friend who loves everything Chinese. I call him an "Egg": White on the outside, Asian on the inside.

It's official...
My baby sis has been officially diagnosed with lupus. =(
It's sad, but it happened so now we can just hope for the best. She sounded much better when i called her on the phone. She'll have to stay in the hospital until about Tuesday due to some additional tests she needs to take. Mainly for precaution.
I'm just glad she's doing ok. I miss her lots.

Soooooooore....
Racoon once again. Went up with Dave to Mountain High to go snowboarding on Saturday. Spur of the moment thing. I got burned so bad. =P Fell hard twice. First time i fell forward and messed up my right shoulder a little bit. It still hurts. Second time i fell on my ass on top of ice. I hit my tailbone and the shock went all the way up to my head. I was dizzy for a good two minutes before i was able to get up. Now i really wanna get my own gear. Snowboarding is so much fun!
While that was one day of fun, the majority of the weekend was spent worrying about my lil sis. She was admitted to the hospital Saturday afternoon. She's been sick on and off for the past month and a half and we have no clue what's wrong. The doctors are still running tests on her and they're starting to belive it might be Lupus: an autoimmune disorder where basically the body starts attacking itself. It's kinda scary to see her like that. I just want her to get better and to come home. She doesn't like staying at the hospital and it's getting too quiet around the house. I miss her =(

All this talk about motorcycles has gotten me to start thinking about getting one again. Only, this time i'm SERIOUSLY considering it. My co-worker B has one and is gonna let me get on his bike to try it out to see if i like it. The rising gas prices aren't really helping with my 80 mile a day commute, either. I realize i'm just gonna decrease my life-expectancy by 10 years, but who wants to live until 70 anyway. I'm sure i'll be too old to enjoy anything anyway.

I HATE being sick. It's times like these i wish i was like Lex Luthor and have an abmornally high white blood cell count to fight off any disease headed my way. (Being filthy rich isn't a bad bonus either).
I've been sick since Tuesday. It started at about 2pm when i was suck upstairs trying to fix a few printers. I just started feeling weak and my upper back really hurt. I knew i was getting sick. What i should've done is gone to the chiropractor, but instead slept at my desk for about 45 minutes and drove straight home. So i've been suffering with this cough and a sore throat that REALLY hurts. =( That's not to say that i haven't gone out.
On Friday, Sar found out she got accepted to USC Grad school (THAT'S MY BABIE!!!!! =DDD) and wanted to go out and have a celebratory dinner with me and HoHo. J didn't go since he had worked all week in Vegas and just came home. We ended up at McGrath's Fish House where the seafood is pretty tasty and prices are relatively cheap (for a seafood restaurant). I had the "Bay City Salmon", Sar ordered "Prawns Scampi", and HoHo got the "Shrimp & Chicken Rustica". We also started out with their "Crab & Artichoke Dip". All very tasty. Definate return potential. Ended the night kinda early since we were all pretty tired.
Saturday i went to the chiropractor and got adjusted. IMMEDIATELY felt 100% better. Still slight cough, but better none the less. Went back to Discount Tires in El Monte where i got my camber kit installed the weekend prior. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE... EVER! They had forgotten to replace two rubber grommets which cover bolts in the rear seat. I waited around for about 30 minutes for one of their mechanics to come back from lunch. I saw one come back after 10 min of waiting, and i asked another guy if that was the guy i needed to talk to. He said no, but ofcourse that really was him. Finally got my things and left for lunch with J to get some chinese fast food. Met up with Sar and picked up a Nintendo DS from Costco and then went out to dinner with her mom at this Japanese restaurant i've been wanting to try in Monterey Park. I think it was called Tai Hei? Good food. Return potential as well. We took her out since Sar's dad and sis are in Hawaii with the band. Met up with HoHo and Kel for some dessert and laughs at Frisco's. Called it a night after hanging out in Sar's car in my driveway for a while.
Today i'm still sick. Woke up at 1pm (Well... 2pm considering it's Daylight savings. Damn Farmers) and have been playing Mario 64 on the DS all morning. Sister is doing pretty bad. She's been sick for the past month or so. She has her ups and downs. I dunno what's wrong with her. Doctors can't figure it out after dozens of tests and finding nothing. Kinda scary. Hope she gets better soon.
