Dang... i was hoping to get out of work early enough to make a trip to Fry's Electronics or Best Buy to pick up a copy of Dark Angel: Season 1, but i didn't leave the site till about 9pm and was starving since i didn't take my lunch break. 8 hours straight. It was fun tho. I kno for sure now that i can't handle a 9am-5pm desk job. I have to move around. Maybe if the desk job was interesting and the time flew by fast, but if it's boring and tedious, i kno i'd hate it with a passion. Monday was like that. It was training and took sooooooo long. I was dying for some fresh air. The meeting room i was in didn't have a single window... the walls were bare, and the door didn't stay open. Today (Wednesday... and without getting into too much detail since all this stuff is "confidential"), i was running around everywhere and kinda did as i pleased. The work wasn't hard. And practically every office had a view or some pictures to look at. I think i'm gonna like my job.

Too bad i had to valet park my car. There was no way around it. The meters around the office had a one hour time limit. Good thing i prepared for that since i had made the trip down to the site yesterday (Tuesday) with Sar to see if i could find the place and see where i could park. I'm also lucky i got my ticket validated. It's $18.50 for the entire day!!! Beverly Hills... just cuz i'm there doesn't mean i can afford it. Sheesh. And to think, pay someone to drive and park MY car? C'mon. It's not like i can't do that myself. It's not like the valet people can park better than me. When i finally left the office and went to pick up my car, the valet guy didn't even drive the car up for me (like they're supposed to). He just handed me the key and told me to get it myself (the car was about 20-30 ft. away). I made sure to check to see if my car wasn't scratched or dented and when i looked, the car wasn't even in the stall straight. This is why i absolutely HATE valet. I'll try to avoid it at all costs. It's even worse when a fee is required for valet.

Oh! There was this really cool coffee machine in the lobby. I've never seen anything like it. It looks like a mini fridge with a slot that fits a small coffee cup. There's these blood-pouch looking packets of instant coffee that you put into a slot that opens up in the machine and you have to slide it in so the nozzle on the pouch will fit into the slot. It looks really hi-tech. First you have to select the kind of drink you want... espresso, coffee, cocoa... the slot opens and it seriously looks like an opening for a copy machine, then slip the pouch in... and *poof* the coffee gets poured into the cup piping hot! I was going *WHOAAAAAA!* in my head! Too bad i picked the Irish Cream coffee... tasted kinda funky. But that was so cool!

Anyway... i think i wrote enough for today. I think the secret to keeping readers' interests are to keep the posts short, so they won't be intimidated by reading too much. I kno when i see a long ass post... i tend to skim through it and not really read. Oh well.... read if you want... don't read if you like... i don't care. It's a journal for me to share... if you don't wanna read... i don't care, cuz ultimately....it's for me. =)

I guess i haven't been posting much of anything lately. It's been kind of a busy past couple weeks. As i posted before, i am now an employee of IBM. I've been running back and forth between home and the Costa Mesa office trying to get oriented and set up for work and trying to spend my free time with Sara since she's almost done with her summer break (she's starting internships and work on Thursday). Also had a BBQ at Elg's house on Saturday with the rest of the guys. So all that along with running errands... like taking the sib to Cal Poly Pomona to take her math placement test... has been keeping me busy.

I've found some time to play a lil Grand Theft Auto 3 since i finished Vice City, but that was last week. Looks like i won't have much time to play any games. At least Sar will be having fun, since i just installed Counter-Strike for her. She's actually playing right now... ignoring me =P (Hahhaha.. just kidding babe....maybe. Hehhe).

I gotta go shower. I have work tomorrow. Woohoo! *twirls finger*. Anyway... if anyone is out in Beverly Hills... give me a call. I'll be out there. Gnite!

I was reading Alfred's site and i came across this and thought it'd be fun to share....

Ever wonder about those people who say they are giving more than 100%? We have all been to those meetings where someone wants over 100%. How about achieving 103%? Here's a little math that might prove helpful

What makes life 100%?

If the ABC's were represented as the numbers 1-26:

A=1, B=2, C=3, D=4, E=5, F=6, G=7, H=8, I=9, J=10, K=11, L=12, M=13, N=14, O=15, P=16, Q=17, R=18, S=19, T=20, U=21, V=22, W=23, X=24, Y=25, Z=26

H A R D W O R K  = 8 + 1 + 18 + 4 + 23 + 15 + 18 + 11 = 98%

K N O W L E D G E = 11 + 14 + 15 + 23 + 12 + 5 + 4 + 7 + 5 = 96%

But:

A T T I T U D E = 1 + 20 + 20 + 9 + 20 + 21 + 4 + 5 = 100%

and

B U L L S H I T =  2 + 21 + 12 + 12 + 19 + 8 + 9 + 20 = 103%

So, it stands to reason that hard work and knowledge will get you close, attitude will get you there, and bullshit will put you over the top.  So the next time someone asks you to give more than 100%, you know what is required of you.

Cool, huh?  =)

Guess where i work? =) (scroll down)

IBM

I'm in baby! Today was my first official day. I went in for orientation and paperwork. I even have my own ID badge that i have to swipe in the card reader thingies just to get into the office! I'm still in the *WOW* stages... more to blog about later =)

*****ADD: Since everyone's wondering what it is that i do... my official title is "Systems Service Representative". I'm basically a field technician. Here's an example - Say you have a company that contracts IBM to install... lets say a network of 10 computers and a server. I'm the guy that goes out there and sets it up on site. That's pretty much what i do. At least, it's what i think i do. I don't have much details, but the pay is good and it's actually kinda something i wanted to try and see if i could do it. I start training in a few days so i'll kno more later. =)

I woke up at the butt-crack of dawn today (Tues) to head out to court in Irvine to pay off my speeding ticket. $177.50 down the drain. Then add the cost of traffic school and i'm somewhere down about $200. Damn.

So what do you do in Irvine from 8am to 2:15pm when you don't have class? First i made a stop at the Dept. of Education to pick up my timeslip for this week and to drop off some paperwork. I also wanted to ask the Peer Advisor about Grad school, but she wasn't going to be in till about 9:30am so i picked up a CBEST (California Basic Educational Skills Test - the test you need to take to become a teacher... well one of em) sample test packet and sat outside for an hour or so going through the problems. I guess i didn't do too bad since i only missed 2 out of 40 questions. After meeting with the advisor, i went over to the student center to check if they had any CBEST study guides. They had one, but i hate shopping at the UCI bookstore since thier return policy is so strict. I ended up skimming through it and then putting it back. Then i played with the ibooks at the UCI computer store (which suck... cuz it doesn't display my website correctly... damn Macs) and then went to read some magazines. There was also the UCI sidewalk sale where everything there was 50% off. Didn't find anything nice and i got hungry so i left to grab a bite at In-n-Out (#1 Animal Style). *yum!* Then i headed over to Barnes & Noble Booksellers to pick up the same CBEST test book i was looking at earlier and sat down and read some more magazines. Then headed over to Best Buy to look around and drove over to Wilson Elementary for work.

Doesn't seem like much, but it was already a LONG day. Driving home, i almost died 5 times cuz i kept falling asleep behind the wheel. Dang it... never gonna speed again (well, at least for another 18 months ;P).

So it begins....

Please excuse the mess that's going on here. After about 3 years, the site is finally getting a face-lift. Don't anticipate very much change, but some things are gonna be taken out while some new items will be added in. Things will be taken out for the most part as i noticed the BLOG is what everyone looks at anyway (and nothing else). We'll see as the weeks roll on and i get ideas and suggestions.

Stay tuned!

Saw X2 last nite with Sar. Good movie... lots of action. I read some reviews about the movie saying you don't really need to be a X-Men comic fan to kno what's going on. After watching it and hearing that Sar was totally confused with some aspects of the movie, you kinda do need to kno a little background... at least to fully appreciate what's going on in the movie. But if you're going to watch it for the special effects, that's worth it too.

Another interesting thing about last nite was i got Sar to cut in line to get into the theater. After buying the tickets for a 10:15pm showing at 9:20pm, we went to get a Crepe. By the time we went into the theater, the line wrapped all the way around to the BACK of AMC. We would've ended up sitting up in front, which i can't stand cuz i get really dizzy. So at the last second, we decided to return the tickets. As we rounded the corner near the front of the line, they were letting people in. So i just kinda "showed" Sar how i would've cut in line. When we did, no one said anything or seemed to care. We got pretty good seats compared to what we would have gotten if we had waited in line. We would've been the LAST ones to find a seat. Sar kinda seemed bothered that we did that... SORRY! =P I did give a chance to get back out of line... =) Just decided not to. Oh well. Good movie. Go see it, especially if you like comics.

Next movies i gotta see....
-Matrix Reloaded
-2 Fast 2 Furious
-Finding Nemo
-The Hulk

*Whew!*

I just submitted my online application to IBM. Wow they ask for everything! I still got through it though and the fact that i did seems like good news to me! Here's what the Online application says:

IBM thinks you have the kind of skills and passion we need in our employees. Few get this far, so congratulations and best of luck. As you fill out the application, please take your time and complete all sections. Before you start, make sure you have access to your social security number, education, employment and personal records.

So hopefully that means i'll be starting my career in the coming weeks. I'm really excited and happy that i even got THIS far. I just hope i'll go the rest of the way =)

*Crosses fingers!* *Knock on wood!*

Wish me luck!

***Extra thanks to Sandy for submitting my resume, getting me an interview, and for just being there for me. Thanks San! You're the BEST!***

Wow i'm really proud of myself =)

I dropped by Sar's apartment after work today to cook dinner again because of her 20 page research paper due tomorrow (Thursday). This time the food came out looking AND tasting good! We had penne pasta with shrimp and green bell peppers in a sundried tomato alfredo sauce, potato-red&green bell peppers-onions stir-fry, and garlic bread. It came out REALLY good =) And this time Sar actually let me cook while she actually did her paper. =)

So i'm 2 and 0 in cooking dinner =) Not bad. Who would've thought i could cook? Next thing you kno, i'll be making up my own recipes =P

So yah... not much else... oh yah... my speeding ticket came in the mail. $177.50. *Ouch* My first paycheck from work doesn't even cover that. Yeesh.

Anywhoo... that's it for now. You can now rejoice...
